The principle of action of the simulator is based on the use of electromechanical actuators for rehabilitation of patients with partial or complete impairment of locomotor function of the lower limbs. The simulator performs movements adapted to the specific patient: sitting, standing, standing up, squatting, walking, climbing and descending stairs and overcoming minor obstacles without assistance, leaning with hands on crutches, walkers or bars.
Rehabilitation using this machine increases walking speed (for patients with partial impairments), reduces spasticity, increases sensation and muscle mass in the lower limbs, restores neuromuscular communication and reduces neuropathic pain. Functional electrical stimulation is used to more effectively restore lost walking patterns by stimulating muscles in their natural activation phase during walking
