Optical communication cable built into lightning protection cable is used for suspension on supports of power transmission lines with voltage 35 kV and higher.
The optical cable contains a core in the form of a central optical module, which is a sealed stainless steel tube with up to 96 optical fibres stacked inside and filled with hydrophobic compound along its entire length. Overlaid on top of the core are one or more strands of aluminium clad steel wires and/or aluminium alloy wires.
Electrical Characteristics:
The optical cable provides resistance to heating up to 200°C for 1 second when exposed to short circuit current.
The optical cable provides resistance to heating up to 85 °? when exposed to alternating current with frequency of 50 Hz.
