It is white or light grey tablets in the form of cylinders with height from 5 to 10 mm and diameter from 12 to 18 mm or granules of white or light grey colour with size from 1 to 10 mm, insoluble in water. Chemical formula YbF3.
The area of transparency is 0.22-12 µm. Refractive index n in the film at l= 550 nm is 1.49-1.54. Apparent density is 4.5-8.0 g/cm3.
