Cargo two-section electric locomotive 2ES6 with collector traction drive and contactor-rheostat starting system is designed for driving goods trains on railways of 1520 mm gauge, electrified with direct current voltage of 3 kV.
It is capable of driving a train weighing 8000 tonnes on sections with flat track profile (up to 60/00) and a train weighing 5000 tonnes on sections with mountain profile (up to 100/00).
Due to new design solutions the technical characteristics of the electric locomotive have been improved, operating costs have been reduced, reliability and safety of the electric locomotive have been improved as compared to previously designed locomotives:
10-15% reduction in power consumption;
reduced repair labour intensity by 15%;
working conditions for locomotive crews are improved;
inter-repair mileage increased by 50 per cent.
