Disposable device designed for endovascular catheter thrombectomy from the inferior vena cava. The device is a cone-shaped polyurethane bag connected at one end to a carrier catheter. A stainless steel tube is passed through the catheter, pumped at the distal end with a nitinol loop that serves as a shearing instrument.
The loop exits from a hole at the tip of the catheter and is threaded through the wide distal portion of the sac in a "pouch" type configuration. The configuration of the metal loop is such that when it is opened, it is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the carrier catheter, forming the bag as a "hood" open at one end. In the proximal part of the bag, holes are made to ensure adequate blood flow through the "hood" at the moment of its full opening in the lumen of the inferior vena cava.
The main lumen of the supporting catheter is used to guide the conductor and inject the contrast agent.
