The TEKFLEX radio wave waveguide level transducers (hereinafter referred to as transducers) are designed for continuous measurement of the level of liquid and bulk solids, the interface of two immiscible liquids and conversion of the measured level value into an analogue or digital output signal.1.4.3 The principle of operation of the transducer is based on propagation of electromagnetic pulse (probing pulse) with duration from 50 to 100 ps through waveguides of different construction (rod, cable or coaxial sensing elements). When the pulse reaches the point where the change in dielectric permittivity (created by the surface of the process medium) is expressed, part of the energy is reflected.
The amplitude of the reflected pulse is determined by the difference of dielectric permittivity. The measured value of the level of the medium (medium interface) is proportional to the time of propagation of the electromagnetic pulse to the inhomogeneity and back.
