The ESFIL® reinforced 1, sterile polypropylene mesh endoprosthesis for reconstructive surgery is recommended for the surgical treatment of ventral hernias.
Endoprosthetic meshes are made of biologically inert non-absorbable polypropylene monofilaments, available undyed or dyed in blue stripe for better visualisation on the wound background. The basic knitted structure of the mesh endoprosthesis provides edge retention when cut, while the special weave provides dimensional stability and limited stretchability in all directions. The use of mesh endoprosthesis allows to provide the necessary strength in the hernia defect zone while reducing the total amount of implanted material, which is achieved due to the variable surface density of the endoprosthesis-mesh structure created by rhythmically alternating narrow (reinforced) and wide (basic) strips.
