A cylindrical rod designed to precisely align a guide device for an orthopaedic implant, such as with an intramedullary bone rod (femoral, humeral and tibial) to be implanted. It is inserted through the guide alignment holes of the adjustable guide device and its profiled distal end enters the alignment holes of the intramedullary rod, providing a reference point.
This allows the drill guides and the remainder of the guide device to be correctly positioned relative to the holes and implant dimensions. It is usually made of high quality stainless steel or synthetic materials.
Several calibration rods can be used for this procedure. It is a reusable product.
