Support rod polymer insulators of outdoor installation with silicon-organic protective shell of type OSC 20-20-3 UHL1 are designed for insulation and fixing of current-carrying parts in electrical apparatuses, switchgears of electrical stations and substations of alternating current with voltage up to 20 kV. The insulators use a high-strength fibreglass plastic rod, which is comparable in strength with alloyed structural steels, as an element that takes mechanical loads.
High hydrophobicity of the surface of the one-piece moulded protective shell made of organosilicon rubber (silicone) under almost any contamination conditions ensures low leakage currents (1 - 2 orders of magnitude lower than those of porcelain insulators), which, in turn, increases discharge characteristics and positively affects energy saving. The insulator has several modifications in terms of building height, breaking load on bending and dimensions of fixing holes in flanges.
