The Ilyushin Il-112V is Russia's first new-generation light military transport aircraft of the modern era, built at PJSC VASO (Voronezh Aircraft Manufacturing Society) — the country's sole producer of wide-body long-haul airliners and one of its most experienced aircraft manufacturers. Designed by the Ilyushin Aviation Complex and manufactured under a Russian Ministry of Defence contract, the Il-112V replaces the ageing An-26 in military service while also supporting commercial cargo operations.
Two TV7-117ST turboprop engines rated at 3,500 hp each, driving AV-112 propellers, give the aircraft a maximum takeoff weight of 21 tonnes, a payload capacity of 5 tonnes, and a range of 2,400 km with a 3.5-tonne load at cruise speeds of 450–500 km/h. The aircraft reaches a maximum altitude of 7,600 m.
Every component, avionics unit, and onboard system is Russian-made. The entire design and build process is conducted in a full 3D digital environment, with 3D printing used to accelerate certain R&D phases.
A key engineering innovation is the one-piece monowing — the first on a Russian cargo aircraft — which attaches directly to the fuselage without the traditional center-section joints, reducing structural weight and improving production economics. VASO manufactures the majority of the aircraft in Voronezh, with fuselage panels from Ulyanovsk and composite parts from Kazan.
