The large-scale bench for modelling of emergency processes of nuclear power plants is designed for:
- experimental studies of thermohydraulic processes in the reactor plant containment and testing of equipment under conditions typical for design and beyond design basis accidents in order to substantiate NPP safety,
- obtaining experimental data for validation of CFD codes on thermal-hydraulics of nuclear power plant containments;
- conducting experiments to substantiate hydrogen safety inside NPP containments using helium as a hydrogen simulator.
The bench containment is a model of the containment of the project NPP with VVER-640 and consists of two parts: the upper part - a metal cylindrical containment of 12 m diameter with a spherical removable dome and the lower pedestal part - a reinforced concrete structure lined with steel sheets. From the outside the steel protective shell of the stand is thermally insulated with 70 mm thick mats of basalt canvas of the MPB-ZO type, which provides the heat insulation required by the conditions of the research... .
