Uralmashzavod's KKD-type primary gyratory cone crushers are purpose-built for first-stage reduction of hard ore and non-metallic minerals, covering throughput from 250 to 4,200 m³/h across a model range with feed openings from 500 mm to 1,600 mm. Part of the UZTM-KARTEX industrial group — one of Russia's largest and most experienced heavy machinery manufacturers — Uralmashzavod has delivered more than 3,000 cone crushers since 1935.
The KKD series handles primary crushing in open-pit mines and concentrator plants; the closely related KRD (reduction) models slot into four-stage flowsheets at the second crushing stage, allowing more efficient downstream use of medium and fine crushers. Each machine is rated for reliable service in extreme climates from sub-Arctic conditions to tropical heat, and can be specified for demanding duties such as highly abrasive or sticky ore, or installation on mobile platforms within open-cast quarries.
Design highlights include a hydraulic discharge-gap support (GRS) system with automatic gap-height maintenance, Heavy-Duty castings for the frame, bowl, crosshead, and crushing cone, and a wound-rotor motor with V-belt drive providing smooth-start capability. An onboard automated control system (ACS) tracks 15 operational parameters and integrates with site-level SCADA.
Every unit undergoes full-assembly factory testing on Uralmashzavod's patented purpose-built test rig — a facility unique in Russia and the CIS — before shipment. Regulatory service life is rated at a minimum of 15 years; typical field longevity exceeds 20 years.
