The 2ES7 freight double-section electric locomotive with asynchronous traction motors is designed for driving goods trains on 1520 mm railways electrified by alternating current with voltage of 25 kV.
The 2ES7 freight electric locomotive is based on the 2ES10 DC freight electric locomotive in order to expand the basic platform.
It is capable of driving a train weighing 9000 tonnes on sections with flat track profile (up to 6 0/00) and a train weighing 6300 tonnes on sections with mountain profile (up to 10 0/00).
