Energy storage system is an installation based on a bidirectional inverter connected to the electric grid, including an electric energy storage device (battery of accumulators), designed to extract electric energy from the electric power system, store it and give it back to it
Applications:
1) short-term duty cycle (up to 1 hour) - supplying other systems with the required energy:
- regulating the frequency / voltage of the electrical network within predetermined limits by consuming / outputting active power;
- reduction of power fluctuations (caused by renewable energy sources or sharply variable loads);
2) long operating cycle (more than 1 hour): smoothing / shifting of peak loads by utilising stored energy during the peak power consumption period or accumulating surplus generated electricity;
3) as a backup power source: supplying AC power to the electrical network for operation of particularly critical systems.
