Zero sequence filters are used in electric networks 6 - 10 kV with isolated neutral, and are designed to create an "artificial" neutral, to which is connected an earthing arc-quenching reactor or earthing resistor, or parallel included arc-quenching reactor and earthing resistor.
Zero-sequence filter FMZO, is an oil-filled three-phase transformer with no low-voltage secondary winding. The main advantages of connection of the earthing reactor through FMZO in comparison with connection through a three-phase transformer (the primary winding of which is connected according to the scheme of star with the withdrawn neutral, and the secondary winding - in a delta): twice lower active losses (there is no secondary winding and losses in it) significantly reduce operating costs; lower resistance to zero-sequence current, which results in higher accuracy of tuning the reactor in resonance.
