The Wasserman storage system is designed for long-term data storage with cost minimisation comparable to tape libraries. It can be used to migrate and then replace tape libraries with a similar approach to storage, but without the use of sequential data access mechanics (robots, streamers, cassettes, etc.).
"Wasserman" is designed to store data that does not require immediate access, allowing the discs to be powered down, plugging them in as needed, thereby providing disc life savings, low power consumption and no special cooling requirements. The media used are 3.5" SATA discs of arbitrary models and manufacturers.
