The Osa 500/01 is a pneumatic underwater speargun produced by AO PO Electropribor, a Penza-based instrument-making plant operating within Concern Avtomatika. Designed for recreational spearfishing in seas, lakes and rivers, it works on a closed pneumatic principle: the air pumped into the chamber is not expended when firing but acts as an energy accumulator, so the hunter can keep shooting for a long time without re-pumping.
The gun's signature is its friction locking and trigger mechanism (FZSM) — according to the manufacturer, the only such system on a serially produced speargun in the world. It grips a harpoon that has no machined grooves, leaving the shaft's cross-section at full strength.
The harpoon is fixed at the front following the maker's original scheme, and the design adds a stepped charging function that is new for pneumatic spearguns. In the 500/01 configuration the gun measures 564 x 153 mm, weighs 0.75 kg with the harpoon, and sends the shaft up to 5 m without a line at a maximum chamber pressure of 22 kgf/cm2 (216x10^4 Pa), reached in roughly 230-240 pump strokes.
The product is a laureate of the 100 Best Goods of Russia competition and requires no permit to purchase or use. Each gun ships as a complete kit with a pump, harpoon, tip, butt rest, five spare O-rings, a 5 m line and a user manual.
