The TORNADO ISN-2-1MD is a mounted straw chopper engineered and produced by OEZ — the Omsk Experimental Plant, a branch of the Federal Scientific Budgetary Institution "Omsk Agricultural Research Center." Built specifically to pair with the Yenisei-1200-1NM grain combine, it chops and uniformly broadcasts straw and chaff across the full cutting-width during harvest, replacing the need for a separate field pass. Chopped residue distributed at fragment lengths of 30 to 150 mm forms a mulch layer that curbs soil moisture evaporation, improves erosion resistance, and conditions the seedbed for quality autumn tillage.
At the heart of the machine is a rotor drum with an enlarged 160 mm shaft diameter — oversized relative to comparable designs — running 68 knives cut from 65G spring steel, double-side sharpened and through-hardened for extended service life. Every drum is individually balanced on an electronic balancing rig before leaving the factory, enabling smooth operation at 2,000 rpm with minimal vibration load on the combine's rear axle.
Housing components are profiled on a CNC portal plasma station for tight dimensional tolerances, and self-aligning double-row ball bearings stabilize the rotor under the loads of seasonal field work. Power draw is 10 kW, leaving the combine's threshing capacity unaffected.
A built-in valve allows the operator to switch instantly between broadcast spreading and windrow (swath) mode. A complete retrofit kit — drive pulley, tensioner, belts, and fasteners — ships with every unit.
