Ball thrust bearings are designed to absorb the prevailing axial loads and to fix the axial position of moving units. The axial load coincides in direction with the bearing's axis of rotation. It can be applied from one side or both sides.
The single axial thrust bearing is designed for unilateral axial loads. It consists of two rings: a tight ring and a free ring. The tight ring is mounted on the shaft, the free ring is mounted in the housing. In a single axial roller thrust bearing, balls are located between the rings. The limiting speeds of thrust bearings are limited due to centrifugal forces acting on the balls.
