The board is formed from high-strength, latex-free polyethylene measuring 1,830 ± 40 × 450 ± 50 × 50 ± 10 mm. It is X-ray transparent, allowing diagnostic imaging without repositioning the patient, and buoyant, so it can be used in water-rescue situations.

A dedicated hole at the lower end enables separate immobilization of hip or shin fractures. The strapping system features a central strap with five pairs of secondary straps; the three central pairs slide freely to accommodate any patient build or height.
