Reactors controlled single-phase arc-quenching reactors with oil cooling RUOM type are used in 6 or 10 kV electric networks with isolated neutral as grounding arc-quenching device and are designed for automatic compensation of capacitive earth fault currents, prevention of transitions of single-phase earth faults into short circuits of electric network. The use of reactors provides a threefold reduction in the number of earth faults and their complete localisation in case of insulation breakdown by overvoltage. It ensures safety of electrical equipment in case of emergency situations and extends its service life.
Reactors consist of an electromagnetic part and thyristor converter placed in a common oil-filled tank. Reactor regulation (current, power, inductance) is performed manually or automatically by means of SAMUR type reactor control system (supplied with the reactor).
