Polypropylene twisted rope (cable coiling) is used for the needs of the sea and river fleet as a mooring rope, in construction and trucking for cargo handling, as well as a core in steel ropes, filling its centre part. Due to its low weight it is well-proven in the production of cages for fish farming in open waters.
The main consumer properties that determine the scope of application of PP rope are related to its positive buoyancy and non-hygroscopicity, i.e. polypropylene ropes do not sink and do not absorb moisture (water).
The advantages of the rope include low stretchability under load, high resistance to acids and alkalis. Ropes made of polypropylene are worse than other ropes resist the effects of ultraviolet light, so they should be made of light-stabilised yarns.
