Ships of the PV22 project are designed for: carriage of 146 passengers; carriage of general cargoes, including refrigerated and dangerous goods in packaging - the volume of hold has noticeably increased up to 895 cubic metres (against 208-215 cubic metres on the existing vessels); carriage of 24 containers (including 8 refrigerated ones); carriage of 6 cars. For self-unloading, the vessels are equipped with a crane with a lifting capacity of 30.5 tonnes (against 2.5-3.5 tonnes on the existing vessels).
The new PV22 project concept has improved ice passage, as it was based on the Arctic salvage vessel of the MPSV07 project, improved manoeuvrability compared to existing vessels. It is provided with redundancy of movement due to two main engines, each of which works on its own propeller. Special facilities for people with disabilities are provided, including a special cabin.
