The BZc boom is a permanent-buoyancy oil spill containment barrier with a cylindrical float, manufactured by NPP "Polytechnika" LLC, a Russian producer of flexible tanks and oil-spill response equipment. It is designed to quickly localize oil and petroleum products spilled on the water surface, prevent the slick from spreading, guide it toward skimming equipment, and shield the shoreline.
The boom is supplied in sections of 10 or 25 metres and comes in four sizes with an overall height of 500 to 1000 mm. The model matching this listing, BZc 10/500, has an overall height of 500 mm, a freeboard (above-water) float diameter of 200 mm, a draft of 300 mm and a working weight of only 5.0 kg per running metre, which keeps handling and deployment fast even with a small crew.
According to the manufacturer, its booms combine the rigidity needed to retain up to 98% of contained petroleum products with the flexibility to follow wave motion, are built for extreme service conditions and repeated use, and conform to the technical requirements of ASTM standards. Polytechnika also offers custom fabrication to the buyer's own technical specification, making the BZc suitable for ports, rivers, lakes, reservoirs and offshore facilities alike.
