Detector of methane in atmospheric air for aircraft "DLS-LA" (hereinafter referred to as detector DLS-LA) is designed for detection of methane in atmospheric air and for automated signalling of methane concentration exceeding the preset threshold value. The device measures the total gas concentration in the laser beam, which is reflected by a topographic object (ground, grass, trees, asphalt, bricks, etc.) located at a distance of 20 - 110 m from the device.
The principle of operation of the DLS-LA detector is based on the determination of the spectral characteristics of the diode laser radiation that has passed through the air medium from the device to some topographic object and back. In this case, the laser emits in the pulse mode with pulse duration of 300 µs, and the radiation wavelength is scanned during the pulse in the vicinity of one of the strong methane absorption lines.
Part of the laser radiation scattered by the object is collected by the receiving lens and focused on the photodetector.
