Manual instrument for separating the edges of a wound (surgical or traumatic) during surgery. May have a variety of designs, such as with one or two working surfaces of different lengths and shapes, flat or iso-curved, long or short, single or double-sided.
Some may have a pointed or hooked tip, have a wire mesh type design on a frame. Deep wound retractors are usually equipped with a long curved working blade with a row of hooks.
They are usually made of high quality stainless steel. The product is reusable.
