Insulation monitoring device UKI-1K® (UKI-1MK®, UKI-1®) is designed to determine the route, depth of occurrence and defects in the insulation coating of underground pipelines and cables made of electrically conductive materials.
Determination of the route and depth of buried underground utilities is carried out by electromagnetic location of the field created by the current, which is induced in the investigated object by a special signal source - generator or electrochemical cathodic protection station. The signal having fixed frequencies is emitted by the directional electromagnetic antenna of the installation, amplified and indicated by the signal receiver.
Signal voltage from a generator or cathode station is applied to underground utilities to determine defects in their insulation coating. The device allows measuring the potential on the ground surface created by the leakage current flowing through the damaged insulation of the investigated object.
