The TDR-109 "STRIZH-S" is a high-precision three-channel digital reflectometer engineered by ERSTED OJSC — a Saint Petersburg–based developer and manufacturer with a focus on cable diagnostic instrumentation. Designed specifically for power cable lines, the TDR-109 locates any type of cable fault or discontinuity — open circuits, short circuits, joints, splices, parallel taps, and moisture ingress — at distances up to 128 km with an accuracy of up to 0.01%.
The instrument implements four measurement methods: the standard time-domain reflectometry (TDR) impulse method for low-resistance faults, the arc-reflection method (ARM) for high-resistance faults above 1 kΩ, and the oscillating-discharge methods (ICE current-wave and Decay voltage-wave) for faults caused by self-healing insulation breakdown. Three independent linear inputs allow simultaneous connection to all phases of a three-phase cable without reconnection.
Results appear on a 5.7-inch 640×480 color TFT display capable of overlaying up to six reflectograms for direct comparison. Non-volatile memory holds at least 1,000 reflectograms, and data is exported via USB flash drive.
The device weighs no more than 2.5 kg and runs for at least 6 hours on its internal battery, operating in temperatures from −20 °C to +40 °C. The TDR-109 is certified by Gosstandart Russia and listed in the State Measurement Register under No.
