The Fractal-800 is a stationary arch-type walk-through metal detector produced by SKIZEL (АО НПП СКИЗЭЛ), a Russian research-and-production enterprise whose customer base spans Rosatom, Gazprom, Russian Railways, the FSB, the Federal Penitentiary Service, the Ministry of Defence, Transneft, and the Central Bank of Russia. The unit belongs to the passive class of detectors: it emits absolutely nothing, instead registering distortions of the Earth's natural magnetic field caused by ferromagnetic objects passing through the 2 000 × 800 mm archway.
Because no radiation is produced, the Fractal-800 is safe for pregnant women, children, animals, pacemaker users, hearing-aid wearers, and health-monitoring devices. Shielding or concealing a ferromagnetic weapon from detection is physically impossible with this operating principle.
Twenty programmable sensitivity levels cover the full range from bulk weapons to micro-objects: at maximum sensitivity the detector reliably picks up a single cartridge or half a razor blade, while keeping false alarms on keys, coins, foil, watches, jewellery, and metallic medical implants to a minimum. Throughput reaches 60 people per minute.
The frame is an anti-vandal extruded aluminium profile rated IP40 and operational from −10 °C to +50 °C. The Fractal-800 is listed in the Unified Register of Russian Radio-Electronic Products of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, is certified to TR TS 020/2011 electromagnetic compatibility requirements and SanPiN norms, carries a five-year warranty, and includes free on-site installation by the manufacturer.
