The optical cable contains a dielectric central power element and an outer sheath of optical modules. The total number of modules is up to 24. Each optical module has up to 24 optical fibres (OF).
Optical modules can be replaced by corded fillers made of glass or polymer yarns insulated with polyethylene or polymer. The total number of single-mode or multimode fibres in the cable is up to 288. The intramodule and intermodule space is filled with hydrophobic compound or other water blocking material along its entire length.
The core is bound by a polyethylene terephthalate tape secured by a winding of glass fibre, textile or polymer filaments or tapes. The core may be topped by a revival of peripheral force elements made of aramid or glass fibre yarns. An outer sheath made of polyethylene or polymer compound, which does not spread combustion in single or group laying, is applied over the core or the veil of peripheral force elements.
