The optical cable contains a core in the form of a central tube, within which up to 48 single-mode or multi-mode optical fibres are arranged. The interior of the tube is filled with a hydrophobic compound or other water blocking material along its entire length.
The core may be overlaid with a web of aramid or glass fibres. The support member may be made of fibreglass rod, steel wire or steel cable.
On top of the core and the supporting element there is a polymer sheath made of polyethylene or polymer compound not spreading combustion in single laying or polymer compound not spreading combustion in group laying.
