Drilling rigs should be equipped with a device for emergency evacuation of the top worker in case of emergency according to safety rules in oil and gas industry.
In case of an emergency, the top worker only needs to fasten the safety carabiner to the chest attachment point of the safety harness and he is ready for evacuation! The process of preparing for descent takes only seconds, which in emergency conditions, along with the reliability of the means of emergency evacuation, plays a decisive role. The speed of descent is automatically controlled (no need for a worker) and is 1 metre per second.
The components of the evacuation device are placed on the derrick, the workplace of the top worker and outside the rig at a distance of at least 60 metres from the borehole. Between the derrick and the tensioning device there is a supporting rope, on which the safety carabiner is located.
