Disc gate - a type of pipeline valves, in which the locking or regulating element has the form of a disc, rotating around an axis perpendicular or located at an angle to the direction of flow of the working medium. In disc gates, the locking element, i.e. the gate, has the form of a disc, which can block the passage of the working medium through the annular seat in the body by rotating (usually by 90°) the gate around an axis perpendicular to the direction of medium flow, whereby the axis of rotation of the disc can be its own axis (axial disc gates) or not coincide with the axis (eccentric disc gates). Disc gates are one of the most modern and progressive types of valves, possessing many important advantages, among which are:
- small construction length and weight;
- simplicity of construction, low number of parts;
- relative simplicity of repair, possibility of quick replacement of sealing elements;
- possibility of application for large diameters of pipelines...
