The diesel generator consists of a diesel engine and a generator connected by a plate coupling. Operation of the diesel generator without time limitation is permitted at all controller positions except the controller position corresponding to the minimum steady idle speed. Operation of the diesel generator at the minimum sustainable idle speed for more than two hours is not permitted.
Diesel generators for automatic speed control, emergency warning signalling and protection are equipped with sensors, actuators providing, together with diesel locomotive systems, automation to the extent of the second degree of automation according to GOST R 55437 for the following operations:
a) automatic maintenance of the set speed;
b) remote automated speed control;
c) automatic temperature control in cooling and lubrication systems;
d) remote automated control of start-up and shutdown, pre-start, post-stop, ....
