The ZUBR-NU is a contra-angle dental handpiece for electric micromotors, manufactured by the VX-Taifun plant in Serpukhov, Russia — a joint Russian–Austrian production facility specialising in dental handpieces. It is designed for restorative (therapeutic) and prosthetic (orthopedic) dentistry and accepts rotary instruments with a standard 2.35 mm shank compliant with ISO 1797-1:1992, type 1.
The handpiece operates at drive speeds of up to 667 s⁻¹ (40,000 rpm) and transmits a torque of at least 0.07 N·m, while an internal coolant delivery system feeds water to the bur at roughly 50 ml/min (at 0.2 MPa) to prevent overheating of the treatment site. Noise is kept low, with a corrected sound power level not exceeding 65 dB(A).
The compact instrument is about 84 mm long with a 15 mm head height and weighs no more than 0.06 kg, reducing hand fatigue during long procedures. It is fully autoclavable at temperatures up to +135 °C — for example 5 minutes at (134±1) °C and (0.21±0.01) MPa in modern steam sterilizers — and is maintained with standard service oil or spray lubrication.
Each unit ships with a product passport in a protective box, carries a declaration of conformity as a registered medical device in Russia, and is backed by a 9-month factory warranty.
