The admixture is specifically engineered for winter concreting operations, protecting fresh concrete from freezing during transport and ensuring normal strength gain at ambient temperatures down to minus 25 °C.
Available in powder form, it dissolves in the mixing water and delivers a pronounced plasticizing effect, raising mix workability from consistency class P1 up to P5 across cements of varying mineralogical composition. The product is completely chloride-free, making it suitable for reinforced and prestressed concrete structures where protection of steel reinforcement is critical.
Recommended dosage ranges from 0.8 % to 4.5 % by cement weight depending on ambient temperature and mix temperature; the precise optimum is established through laboratory trials. Kratasol-Krio-P does not impair the protective properties of the hardened concrete, does not promote corrosion cracking, and does not cause efflorescence.
Its shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture under proper storage conditions. The product is non-toxic and non-flammable, posing minimal hazard in normal construction use.
