TauRusLab Calcimeters meet the requirements of ASTM D 4373-84 "Standard Method for Determination of Calcium Carbonate in Soil".
Calcium carbonate in soils". In calcimeter MK-1 calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate react with 10% hydrochloric acid to form CO2. The reaction takes place in a sealed reaction flask. The pressure build-up due to the release of CO2 is measured with a pressure gauge. The calcium carbonate content is determined by treating the dried sample with hydrochloric acid in a sealed reaction vessel. During the reaction between the acid and the carbonate fractions
of the sample, carbon dioxide gas is released. The pressure generated during the reaction in the reaction flask is directly
proportional to the carbonate content of the sample.
