The 3PD pressure regulator is used in diesel locomotives. It automatically switches the compressor on and off. When the air pressure in the main tank of the locomotive is below the value set by the driver, the 3PD regulator switches on and allows the compressor to pump the gas up to the upper permissible limit. As soon as the desired value is reached, the 3RD switches off. In general, the pressure regulator allows to strictly observe the permissible minimum and maximum gas pressure values in the main tank of the locomotive, performing all actions automatically.
The 3PD pressure regulator also has an idling mode. It allows directing gas not into the main tank, but directly into the atmosphere. This will help to sharply release the pressure, if for some reason it has reached a critical point. Operating and idling are switched quite easily by the driver, so he has full control over the situation.
