The most common biological treatment method in municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants is the sludge aeration process. In these plants, the bacterial mass in the biological sludge must be appropriately oxygenated and kept in suspension.Oxygen is capable of breaking down organic substrate and transforming inorganic compounds. The diffusers are uniformly mounted on special distribution grids placed at the bottom of the process tanks.Air supplied by the blower system is distributed inside each diffuser, inflating the membrane and opening the micro bore holes. Air in the form of small microbubbles, evenly diffuses into the mass of treated water and sludge, thus ensuring maximum efficiency of oxygen transfer to the biological mass.
