The TB 5004 is a semi-automatic stationary bench-top hardness tester manufactured by ZIP LLC (Завод Испытательных Приборов — Plant of Testing Instruments), a Russian specialist in metrology equipment certified to ISO 9001:2015 (certificate No. СДС.ФР.СМ.00504.21).
The instrument measures metal hardness by the Brinell method in accordance with GOST 9012, covering a range of 4 to 450 HB with a standard steel ball indenter, or up to 650 HBW when fitted with an optional carbide ball. An electromechanical drive delivers the test load automatically and maintains it for a programmable dwell time of 5 to 300 seconds (accuracy ±3 s).
Seven selectable test forces range from 1.839 kN to 29.42 kN, all held within ±1% of nominal, with two additional loads available by special order. The TB 5004 supports two operating modes: conventional Brinell indentation measurement using a calibrated MPB-3 reading microscope, or depth-of-recovery measurement via a built-in dial indicator that also enables automated sorting of parts into predefined hardness groups.
The instrument carries ROSSTANDART type-approval certificate No. 44527 and is manufactured in a metrologically accredited laboratory (Rosaccreditation certificate RA.RU.312915).
With 120 mm clearance from the indenter axis to the frame and a maximum indenter-to-table distance of 250 mm, the tester accommodates a wide range of workpiece sizes and geometries.
