GEOKOM is a needle-punched non-woven geotextile fabric manufactured by KOMITEKS OJSC (Syktyvkar, Russia), with geosynthetic sales handled since 2015 by its dedicated subsidiary Komitex GEO. The fabric is produced from polyester staple fibre using staple-fibre technology: the web is consolidated by needle-punching, which gives the material an exceptionally long service life — the manufacturer states at least 25 years in operation.
The D-series covers surface densities from 100 to 450 g/m², so grades above 150 g/m² (D-200, D-250, D-300 and higher) are supplied for demanding civil-engineering work such as road construction and the ballasting and protection of pipelines. Rolls are produced in widths up to 600 cm, and breaking load grows with density from 2.3 kN/m up to 11.0 kN/m for the heaviest grade.
The fabric does not rot or decompose, is not attacked by rodents or microorganisms, withstands UV radiation, acids, alkalis and both fresh and salt water, and remains air- and water-permeable while staying non-toxic. Even fibre distribution along the whole roll (mass unevenness no more than 10%) ensures predictable separation, filtration and protection performance in every layer of the structure.
