A portable product designed for use by anaesthesia department/emergency medical service personnel to manipulate the patient's tongue to hold the tongue in the mouth and prevent it from falling into the oropharynx to allow inspection of the trachea for insertion of an endotracheal tube prior to inhalation anaesthesia and/or artificial ventilation. The product has a handle with batteries to power a bulb (small inbuilt bulb or fibre optic illuminator) to illuminate the airway, and a curved or straight blade of various designs and lengths, which may be hinged/replaceable or integral.
