Case furniture, wardrobes, beds, dressers and tables, ships flat-packed in branded cartons with fittings and assembly instructions, which is what makes container economics work. As a rough guide, a 20 ft container takes around 25-35 flat-packed wardrobes or 15-20 assembled sofas, and a 40 ft high-cube roughly doubles that. Mixed loads are normal, and factories will calculate the exact loading plan from your order list before invoicing.
•What payment terms do Russian furniture factories accept?
The common pattern is an advance payment of 30-50 percent to start production with the balance before dispatch, paid by bank transfer. Established repeat buyers often negotiate softer terms. Settlement currencies and banking routes are agreed case by case, so raise this early in the negotiation.
•Is there a warranty on exported furniture?
Manufacturers typically declare 12-24 months on frames and mechanisms under normal household use. For export, warranty is usually handled by replacement parts, sending a new mechanism, facade or fitting, rather than product returns, which is worth agreeing in the contract.
•Can a retailer order display samples before a container order?
Yes, most factories sell single units of catalogue models for showroom evaluation. Sample pricing is usually list price without volume discount, and buyers often consolidate samples from several factories into one trial shipment through a forwarder.
