Diaphragm is a type of standard narrowing device (SD), made in the form of a thin disc with an orifice having a sharp rectangular (sometimes conical) edge on the side of the flow entrance. The purpose of the diaphragm is to measure the flow rate of the medium using the variable differential pressure method.
