Determination of octane numbers of petrol and its components by motor and research methods according to GOST 511-82, GOST 511-2015, GOST 8226-82, GOST 8226-2015, GOST 32339-2013, GOST 32340-2013, GOST 32513-2013, GOST P 51105-97, GOST P 51105-2020, GOST P 51866-2002 (EN 228-2004), GOST P 52946-2008, GOST P 52947-2008, GOST P 52946-2019, GOST P 52947-2019.The range of determination of octane numbers by motor and research methods is from 40 to 110. The essence of determination of octane numbers by both methods is the same and consists in comparison of the tested fuel sample with standards (mixtures of isooctane with normal heptane) under standard test conditions. The methods differ in the test conditions (different engine speeds, ignition advance angles, fuel-air mixture temperature).An electronic detonometer with a magnetostrictive sensor and a detonation indicator is used to measure detonation intensity when determining octane numbers.
