In areas below atmospheric pressure, as in the DDC, the end seals prevent atmospheric air from being sucked into the turbine and condenser, ensuring their normal operation. DDC end seals are a type of labyrinth seals. DDC end seals have only two chambers: supply of sealing steam and suction of steam and atmospheric air mixture.
