The SHU cabinet is designed to accommodate relay equipment of automatic interlocking, crossing signalling, electrical centralisation of switches and traffic lights and other devices used in railway transport with the possibility of connecting cable communications. The SHU cabinet is a prefabricated-welded case with two single-wing doors and a removable protective devices cabinet fixed on the left side wall (hereinafter referred to as the SHZU cabinet). Climatic design of the cabinet is UHL category 1 according to GOST 15150-69.

In terms of resistance to mechanical effects, the cabinet corresponds to the group of operating conditions MC3 according to GOST 34012-2016. In terms of resistance to climatic effects the cabinet corresponds to the group of operating conditions K4 according to GOST 34012-2016. Protection degree of the cabinet is IP55 according to GOST 14254-2015.

According to the method of protection of a person from electric shock the cabinet belongs to class 01 according to GOST 12.2.007.0-75.
