GAL-30 are designed to measure the distance between an underwater carrier and a sound-reflecting surface placed perpendicular to the direction of radiation.

The product is installed on underwater vehicles of various types: towed, teleoperated and autonomous.

It is used as a means to estimate the distance to the bottom, objects located on the course of movement or above the vehicle.

The distance is measured by the measured time of passage of the sounding echo-signal from the transmitter to the first reflecting object, and back, and the value of the speed of sound propagation in the water entered into the product..
