Worm gearbox and gearmotor

A worm gearbox is a device that converts angular speed and motor torque using a worm gear.
In a worm gearbox, the increase in torque and decrease in output shaft angular velocity occurs by converting the energy contained in the high angular velocity and low torque on the input shaft. A motor with an integrated worm gearbox is called a worm gearmotor.Due to their design, worm gearmotors are characterised by smooth and quiet operation.

The advantages of a worm gearmotor also include compactness - a worm gearmotor will be significantly smaller than a similar gearmotor with the same gear ratio. A characteristic feature of the worm gearmotor is the self-braking property.
