Transformer is designed for use on AC mainline electric freight locomotives for converting the voltage of the contact network to supply voltage of traction converters, excitation windings of traction motors, auxiliary needs of the locomotive, as well as for converting the voltage of traction converters to the voltage of the contact network in the regeneration mode.
